Hurricane Helene

On Friday after the power went out, making our whole neighborhood suddenly dark, my parents decided to go to their

work to get internet. Having nothing better to do other than read but it was too dark I decided to listen to music and

an audiobook, while looking out of the window with my only source of light being a small flashlight. However before

my father, left he boiled water and put it In a thermos so I could make ramen later,

Because I had nothing to do I used the hall to practice volleyball. At times there was enough sunlight to read by a

window or do a diamond dots sticky puzzle. When I got bored I would see if anything had happened outside by

going into my room and looking at the window which overlooked our front yard. Since I didn’t want to waste the

battery from the flashlight I tried to stay near a window as a source of light as much as possible. For dinner we went

to Red bowl and I got sushi.

After the storm ended we drove around the neighborhood to see how much damage there was and to our amazement

we found that people’s docks floating away wooden bridges were broken, gazebos were flooded and the lake had

overflowed. As we drove we saw people cleaning up their yards and were trying to assess the damage. This was my

experience of hurricane Helene.
